“This might be the year for Sgt. Anthony Park,” Bart Warshaw, Sgt. Anthony Park Neighborhood Association President tells me. “We’re looking forward to the spring. We have been in contact with the city for some time now, and they sent us plans for a new playground that we can choose from at out next meeting on March 9th.”
The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 9th at 7pm at Zap’s Bar. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend, even if they haven’t in the past – the Sgt. Anthony Park Neighborhood Association is excited to welcome new members who can participate in the park’s continued revival.
In addition to the playground structure, Warshaw is looking to replace the shrubbery (which is pretty abrasive), resurface the heavily used basketball court, and upgrade the benches which are missing planks.
There’s also a dog run at the park – the first in the city – but the stones are too big for small dogs. (They have trouble walking it, so they don’t use it.) The plan is to update the flooring with crushed granite that has a compound to help control the odor.
And, last but certainly not least, head gardener Norrice Raymaker is actively looking for members and people to help in the community garden over the spring and summer.
There are four structures to choose from:
Be sure to reach out to the Sgt. Anthony Park Neighborhood Association if you’d like to join or participate, but are unable to attend the meeting.
