Yippeeeee! The most wonderful time of the year has finally come to an end and I just dropped off two kids at two schools for the next six hours. Blessed be the teachers for taking over from here.
I have to admit, I did have one tiny moment where a small lump appeared in my throat – maybe it was because Lyndon wanted to hear the SING version of Cohen’s Hallelujah – but I held it back and kept it movin. No time for tears this morning.
It’s been an exhausting, if exciting, holiday season. We ate all the right foods, saw all the lights, messed with the elf, road-tripped to relatives, and swept the kitchen floor at least four times a day. The kids got toys, I got a speaker, and Lyndon got hip and trendy clothes for the office. I’d say we did all right.
But get out now. Off you go. I have about 600 emails to respond to and a coffee to drink while it’s still hot. And if I hear even one name of even one Paw Patrol character today, I might accidentally break whatever happens to be nearby.
Happy Back to Work Day, moms and dads. You earned it.
